An offshoot of Mulderbosch, Kanu sources their 2008 Chenin Blanc (blended with 4% each of Sauvignon and Viognier) largely from mature, dry-farmed, head-pruned vines. I liked it as well as I did the parent winery’s version of this grape at nearly half again as much. Apple, pineapple, and quince inform the nose (along with a musky hint of narcissus) and a quite lush palate, and the wine finishes with hints of salt and a bit much bitterness of citrus oil. Enjoy it over the next 6 months. Imported by Cape Classics, New York, NY; tel. (212) 686 1300
