The 2006 Chardonnay Kerschbaum is redolent of ripe Persian melon, sweet clover, apple, honey, and a hint of vanilla. (But it’s vinified entirely in tank.) Rich and suggestive of sweetness on the palate (although it possesses a mere 6 grams of residual sugar), it remains juicy and refreshing through its finish of spiced, honey tinged fresh apple and melon. Importer: Weygandt-MetzlerWhile I did not have occasion yet to meet Josef Schmid, the samples that came my way were, to say the least, impressive. The 2006s canvassed below are no flukes: Schmid’s 2005s were also hugely successful, although for reasons of space and the context of this report, I have not published those notes.Importer: Weygandt-Metzler Importing (www.weygandtmetzler.com), Unionville, PA; tel. 610-486-0800
