From a single vineyard planted in 1976, the 2010 Arthurs Creek Vineyard Chardonnay received 20% malo-lactic, was fermented with wild yeast in barrel and matured 11 months in new (30%) and older French oak - 50% barriques and 50% puncheons. It offers intense aromas of apricot kernels and apple tart over mandarin peel, pink grapefruit, meal, crostini, toasted almonds and a whiff of cedar. Medium bodied with great concentration, it has racy acidity, a silken texture and a long finish with the oak poking through just a little. Give it another 6-12 months for the oak to marry and drink to 2016+. Importer: Old Bridge Cellars, Napa, CA; www.oldbridgecellars.com
