The bouquet is redolent of wild berry, sour cherry, cola and grilled herb. You get a better sense of the Sangiovese and Montepulciano typicity that shapes this accessible Tuscan red.

Il Macchione's 2009 Vino Nobile di Montepulciano makes a great entry to the palate with fresh crispness and bright berry nuances. This wine feels younger than it really is. There are some evolved notes of dried cherry, cola and licorice that add more complexity and elegance. The mouthfeel is sharp, focused and direct.

The 1999 Vino Nobile di Montepulciano Riserva possesses a blackish ruby/garnet, the nose offers potent plum, black cherry, and tobacco aromas of the maximum focus and precision. The forceful and deep flavors are rich with the sweetness of perfectly ripe fruit, abundant tar and licorice, and an ample, dense texture which swells and expands on the long and sumptuous finish.
