The 2009 Pinot Noir East Ridge is a marvelously complete wine. Fruit, structure, acidity and tannin are all wonderfully balanced here. The depth and sheer silkiness of the fruit is remarkable, but the East Ridge is really about potential, and the future certainly appears bright. The East Ridge is made from the three oldest blocks in this steep, northern-facing side of the property. Anticipated maturity: 2013-2019. This is a thrilling set of wines from Hirsch that captures the essence of everything that makes the Sonoma Coast so compelling.
