The 2010 Reserva "Olho De Mocho" Branco is Antao Vaz. As much as I liked the somewhat elegant but persistent, regular Branco reviewed this issue - this is better, deeper and with a better finish and intensity on the finish. This lingered nicely, showing persistence and controlled flavor, a little power and elegance at the same time. It gripped the palate beautifully. Remarkably clean and fresh for its style, it is very nice. It will be early maturing, however long it theoretically holds, and it is drinking well now. Drink now-2014. The 2009 RESERVA “OLHO DE MOCHO” white, all Antao Vaz, adds layers of oak to the regular Branco reviewed this issue. It is more stern and serious, likely a little more ageworthy. Although it admirably avoids being laced with annoying vanilla notes, its stylistic differences make it different…but not necessarily more pleasing, depending on your preferences. The 2005 BRANCO RESERVA “OLHO DE MOCHO” is all Antao Vaz. It is a charming wine for the Summer, but not much more. It is light and perky on opening with decent acidity. The mid-palate is modest and the wine does flatten out a bit with air, but it is quite pleasing overall. This could make a nice Summer sipper. Drink now-2009. There is no USA importer at this time.
