Bordeaux look-alike, the 2004 Wilhelmus, is a proprietary blend of 40% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Cabernet Franc, 20% Merlot, and the rest Malbec and Petit Verdot, aged 24 months in French oak, of which 30% was new. It could easily be mistaken for a top-class Medoc. Complex, cedary, spice box, black currant, and vanillin scents jump from the glass of this dense ruby/purple-hued 2004. Full-bodied, powerful, and rich with copious tannin, it can be drunk now or cellared for 10-15 years. Importer: Ben Hammerschlag, Epicurean Wines, Seattle, WA; tel. (206) 923-1376
