The 2006 CABERNET SAUVIGNON GOLAN is a second label from Golan Heights, with the big “G” logo. It is simple and fruity, with basic flavors, yet it has a surprising hit of tannins at the outset that gives it a slightly more serious demeanor and makes it into a pleasing wine. It is bright, light and refreshing, with a touch of herbs on the finish. When it fades, it fades pretty quickly, though, and the mid-palate has little concentration. Drink now-2010. Golan Heights is Israel’s semi-mythical winery, the one that pretty much kicked off the quality revolution that people are now talking about. Its best wines are among Israel’s best, although the wide range of products and lack of focus can make it somewhat unpredictable. These are all Kosher (not Mevushal).Importer: Yarden, Inc., New York, N.Y.; tel: (212) 997-9463
