Packaged with a white label, the Gianfranco Fino 2016 Negroamaro Jo offers large-scale aromas of jammy black fruit, dried cherry and black currant, with plenty of spice, tar and sweet rum cake. The bouquet peels back to reveal inky dark fruit, espresso, bitter chocolate and cherry liqueur. Because those aromas are so powerful on their own, I'd recommend pairing this wine with a more neutral dish, such as roasted chicken or pork. The lasting flavors from this wine will be hard to match. Aged in French barrique for nine months, some 3,000 bottles were made.
