The 2006 Cabernet Sauvignon Gran Araucano is purple-colored with a bouquet of cigar box, pencil lead, violets, and blackcurrant. Savory flavors, sweet fruit, and good depth bode well for the future. The 2005 Gran Araucano Cabernet Sauvignon was aged for 18 months in 70% new French oak. The reticent bouquet reveals toasty oak, earth notes, cassis, and black cherry. On the palate it is medium to full-bodied, smooth-textured, and well-balanced. There is enough structure to support 2-3 years of additional cellaring and it should offer prime drinking from 2011 to 2020. The 2002 Gran Araucano is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon. The wine was barrel fermented in new French oak where it aged for 18 months. Dark ruby-colored, it delivers cedar, tobacco, espresso, and spicy black currants.
