There are 10,000 cases of the easy-drinking, fruit-forward 2020 Cotes du Rhone Samorens, a blend of 60% Grenache, 30% Syrah and 10% Marselan. It's soft, juicy and medium to full-bodied, with red raspberry and strawberry fruit. Drink it young.

Ferraton's 2019 Cotes du Rhone Samorens is relatively tight and structured, with modest cherry fruit hung on a medium-bodied frame, despite the 14.5% alcohol on the label. Firm tannins channel the leather and cherries into a crisp finish. It should have reasonable longevity for a simple C?tes du Rh?ne.

An 80-20 blend of Grenache and Syrah assembled from purchased wine, the 2017 Cotes du Rhone Samorens is a strong effort. Black cherries are joined by hints of leather, earth and dried spices in a medium-bodied wine that's silky in texture and reasonably long on the finish. Drink it over the next few years.

Ferraton's 2016 Cotes du Rhone Samorens is a silky, medium to full-bodied blend of 60% Grenache and 40% Syrah. Dusty earth and cherries mingle easily on the nose and palate, gliding to an elegant finish. Drink it over the next 4-5 years.

A terrific value is the 2015 C?tes du Rh?ne Samorens, which has lots of savory black cherry and blackcurrant characteristics to go with a medium to full-bodied, elegant style on the palate. Downright Proven?al, with plenty of complexity and fine tannin, drink it over the coming 4-5 years.
