The 2002 Micante is theoretically a less important wine in the line, but the grapes are from old vine Sangiovese and Alicante vineyards and the wine is firm and long in flavor, warm and expansive in its aromas. But it is still shaped to be drunk young. Elisabetta Geppini and Stefano Rizzi are very happy with the wines fashioned by Christian Le Sommer (former head winemaker at Latour, now consultant to Lafite’s Eric Rothschild ), and there is no reason why they shouldn’t be, as these, along with the 1999s, indicate that this is still one of the top estates of the Tuscan coast.
