From Charles Back comes another play on a Rhone wine, although this has Grenache and Carignan in addition to the Shiraz and Viognier. A tight nose of ripe, red fruit leads to a jammy, plum-filled palate layered with chocolate, oak spice and vanilla. Rich and dark, with a round mouthfeel, it finishes with spice and a little warmth.
