Darkly colored and coarsely tannic, this is a full-bodied, bone-dry and rustic wine. In its youth it offers a deep core of blackberry fruit. Lots of people will happily drink it now, but it’s really a wine that wants time in the cellar. Best after 2017, and it should evolve in the bottle for years afterward. — (8/1/2012) —91

Bold and peppery, showing blackberry and black cherry flavors, with just the right details of cinnamon, cedar, tobacco, black tea, smoke and vanilla. Vibrant, thick but velvety tannins. Drink now through 2019. 299 cases made. -MW

Fragrant, with pretty cedar and floral notes, this shows bright red fruit flavors of wild strawberry and raspberry, with firm but relatively polished tannins for a Petite. Finishes with a touch of cola. Drink now through 2016. 165 cases made. -MW

Very ripe, to the point of overripe. The blackberries and black currants veer into raisins, and there’s a hint of raisinskin tartness that, combined with the strong tannins, adds to the tough mouthfeel. Will probably soften with age, without necessarily gaining complexity.——S.H.(8/1/2010)—— 86
