“The Single Site Chardonnay is characterized by pure, stark acidity that races through the fruit. The wine is often pure, crystalline and tense—almost brittle (yet the length of flavor and composure of fruit is striking). The acidity, come to think of it, could be likened to glass shards, and the wine can often be quite distinct in a masked lineup because of these elements. So, this 2022 Single Site Chardonnay is piercing and tense, with a lacy, light web of fruit/acid/phenolics in the mouth. 2022 was a warm season in Western Australia, and the Chardonnays from Margaret River seem to be possessed of softer, juicier acidity than in many seasons past. It reminds me of 2014. This Chardonnay does not seem to have that "soft, juicy" acidity so much as it seems to be dominated by the stark character of the vineyard in profusion. I'd say the bottle is screaming, "Don't Touch Me!" Wait a year or three for it to realize itself. 13% alcohol, sealed under screw cap.”
