The 2009 Pinot Noir represents the first vintage that a Gippsland Pinot has been produced, due in part to the lack of Yarra fruit that year owing to the bush fires. With a deep ruby color, this wine gives fragrant wild cherry and raspberry aromas with some spearmint and a whiff of lavender. Medium-high acid and fine, silky tannins support the medium-bodied palate and give way to a long juicy finish. This is delicious now and should continue to drink through 2015+. 150 cases were made in 2009 and because of its success, the plan is to continue to produce this wine. Dominique Portet does not have a US importer but exports to Dubai, Hong Kong, China, Holland, Canada and Singapore.
