The 2016 Santenay 1er Cru Beaurepaire comes from young vines planted in 2008 and pruned Cordon Royat, which was beneficial in this vintage as the cycle tends to be later. I appreciate the bouquet here: blackcurrant, raspberry, cranberry leaf and cold stone, all with fine delineation. The palate is very well balanced with vivid raspberry and cranberry fruit, well structured like the Passetemps with a firm, grippy finish. This should be cellared for 2 or 3 years, and then consumed over the next 10. Excellent.
