Aromas of cassis, rose hip and sweet soil tones introduce the 2017 Aloxe-Corton Le Suchot, a medium-bodied, succulent wine with vibrant fruit flavors and a fine-grained but youthfully chewy chassis of structuring tannin. It's an elegant rendition of a rustic appellation.

The 2016 Aloxe-Corton le Suchot did not quite deliver the same precision as its Savigny-les-Beaune Village on the nose. The palate is brighter than the aromatics at this stage with quite firm tannin, broody black fruit that open with time and merge with more red fruit toward the supple finish. Once the nose opens up this will be fine, if not the best from Bize's truncated range in 2016.

The 2015 Aloxe-Corton Le Suchot is one of the successes of the range in 2015, opening in the glass with a classic bouquet of plum, cassis, forest floor and dried flowers. On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied, firm and nicely concentrated, with a deep core, good purity and a fine-grained but firm chassis of tannin which will reward the patient.

The 2014 Aloxe Corton le Suchot has a well defined bouquet with red berry, cranberry and cold stone. The palate is fresh and well defined with good acidity, lively red berry fruit with just a touch of spice on the finish. I appreciate the energy and the animation here. It is not an overtly complex Aloxe-Corton, but it is imbued with a sense of joie-de-vivre.
