The 2021 Savigny-lès-Beaune Grands Picotins is a pretty, delicate wine redolent of rose petals, peonies and red berries. Medium-bodied, ample and open-knit, with melting tannins and a giving profile, this will appeal to readers who privilege perfume over concentration.

Like its 2019 predecessor, the 2020 Savigny-lès-Beaune Grands Picotins is an unusually charming rendition of a cuvée that can sometimes be a touch structured out of the gates. Revealing aromas of cherries, raspberries, rose petals and warm spices, it's medium to full-bodied, velvety and enveloping, with a concentrated core of fruit, powdery tannins and a long, perfumed finish.

I also revisited the 2019 Savigny-lès-Beaune Grands Picotins from bottle, and it's showing just as well as it did from barrel and tank. Bursting with notes of plums, raspberries, orange rind, warm spices and rose petals—its fruit tones having modulated from black in the direction of red in the intervening year since I last encountered it—it's a medium to full-bodied, layered and fleshy wine whose immediate charm almost risks distracting from impressive concentration and length.

Mingling aromas of wild blueberries, plums and raspberries with coniferous forest floor and spices, the 2018 Savigny-lès-Beaune Grands Picotins is medium to full-bodied, fleshy and lively, with an ample core of fruit, powdery tannins and a sapid finish. As I've written before, this hails from a gently sloping east-facing site located on the alluvial fan below Savigny and Pernand.

The 2017 Savigny-lès-Beaune Grands Picotins exhibits aromas of sweet cherries, raspberries, currant leaf and blood orange. On the palate, it's medium-bodied, tangy and melting, with a pure core of fruit. This hails from a gently sloping east-facing site on the alluvial fan below Savigny and Pernand, and it's the most red-fruited, immediate wine in Guillemot's portfolio this year.
