The 2016 Corton Blanc Grand Cru has a very tempting bouquet with scents of white and yellow flowers filtering through the citrus fruit, hints of quince and passion fruit emerging with time. I appreciate the mineralité here. The palate is very well balanced with orange cordial and apricot on the entry, slightly viscous in texture with a smear of wild honey and brioche toward the finish. This is an excellent Corton Blanc from Pavelot that should age over the next 12 to 15 years. Superb.

Taken from barrel, the 2014 Corton Blanc Grand Cru has quite an extrovert nose: lemon curd, vanilla pod, almond and minerals, all nicely defined and seemingly "ready for action" at this prenatal stage. The palate is clean and fresh. This feels rounded in the mouth thanks to a brush of honey, lovely tropical tones with a more spicy seam towards the finish, hence the tang of lemongrass on the aftertaste. Not an intellectual white Corton - but is satiates all the senses.

There is just a single barrel of the 2013 Corton Blanc Grand Cru, which undergoes a slightly longer 18 month élevage compared to the Savigny-les-Beaunes. It has a very appealing bouquet with hints of lemon curd, green apple and minerals that gently unfold in the glass. The palate is fresh and vibrant with attractive white peach and apricot notes, a fine line of acidity and a gentle lilting almost Corton-Charlemagne-like finish. Excellent.
