Distinct notes of oak and menthol can be found on the moderately ripe and spicy red and dark pinot fruit that are cut with hints of exotic tea. There is good richness to the solidly dense and relatively powerful medium-bodied flavors that are shaped by firm tannins on the dusty and borderline rustic finish. This is certainly no shrinking violet and a wine that's going to need at least a few years to come together because at present it could be fairly described as youthfully awkward. As such, I would recommend buying it only if you're prepared to cellar it for at least a few years first.

A toasty nose consists of plum liqueur, earth and plenty of spice elements. There is good richness and solid density to the powerful, intense and unusually big-bodied flavors in the context of what is typical for the vintage, all wrapped in a sappy, firm and lingering finish that is noticeably warm. This is not a perfectly balanced effort but there is enough to like that it's more than just interesting.
