A terrific white that savvy readers should seek out is the 2015 C?tes du Rh?ne Libre Expression Blanc, and it will stand up to any number of more expensive Chateauneuf du Pape Blancs. Honeysuckle, ripe orchard fruit and brioche all define this beautifully textured, ripe, serious white that deserves to be served alongside a classy meal.

A ripe, textured and medium-bodied white that will pair up with heartier foods, the 2014 C?tes du Rh?ne Libre Expression Blanc is mostly Grenache Blanc, yet has smaller parts Roussanne and Marsanne. Giving up plenty of browned spice, buttered apple, peach and hints of honey, it stays fresh and lively on the palate while packing a solid dose of fruit. Drink it over the coming couple of years.

An impressive effort that’s a good value, the 2013 C?tes du Rh?ne Libre Expression Blanc has classic pear, mint and honeysuckle aromas to go with a medium-bodied, juicy, fresh and rounded feel on the palate. Made from 80% Grenache Blanc and 10% each of Roussanne and Marsanne, brought up all in stainless steel, it should drink nicely for 2-3 years, although I suspect it’s best in its first year.
