Aromas of Anjou pear, white flowers, fresh peach and warm pastry introduce the 2018 Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru La Garenne, a medium to full-bodied ample and enveloping wine, with a textural attack that segues into a core of succulent fruit underpinned by lively acids. This has turned out well.

Tasted blind at the Burgundy 2011 horizontal tasting in Beaune. The Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru La Garenne 2011 has a delightful bouquet with citrus lemon and touches of almond, fine minerality and pressed white flower scents develop. The palate is clean and poised, fresh and vibrant with good depth, fine focus and great tension. This is an assured, complex premier cru, although it will need 3-4 years for the oak to integrate.

Very oaky nose. Rich and voluptuous for Puligny; a full-bodied, concentrated style, oaky and dense and quite complex. Good length.
