The two 2007 cuvees were more similar than dissimilar. More oak, structure, and spice are present in the dense ruby/purple-hued 2007 Chateauneuf du Pape Confidence Vigneronne. It is a more modern take on Chateauneuf that may not turn out to be any better than the traditional cuvee. The dark plum/purple-colored 2006 Chateauneuf du Pape Confidence Vigneronne offers up attractive black raspberry, licorice, tobacco leaf, and wood characteristics in its spicy, medium-bodied, moderately tannic personality. Give it 1-2 years of bottle age, and drink it over the following 10-12.
