Three grape varieties from three soil types go into this bottling. A blend of 80% Grenache, 15% Syrah and 5% Mourvèdre, matured in a mix of demi-muids and concrete tanks, the 2019 Chateauneuf du Pape Trilogies features gorgeous red-berried aromas, plus hints of mint and garrigue. Full-bodied, rich and concentrated, it finishes silky and long—a pretty complete package.

The certified-organic 2018 Chateauneuf du Pape Trilogies is mainly Grenache, with smaller bits of Syrah and Mourvèdre. Matured largely in tank, it reveals peppered cherries and garrigue notes on the nose, while the palate is medium to full-bodied, streamlined and taut, with a drying, astringent finish. Give it another year or two, and perhaps that will mellow a bit, or just serve it with rare beef or lamb to help balance those tannins.

The 2016 Chateauneuf du Pape Trilogies is the second vintage of this prestige cuvée, a blend of 80% Grenache, 15% Syrah and 5% Mourvèdre. Aged solely in concrete, it offers intricate aromas of garrigue combined with ripe cherries. It's full-bodied and lush, showing great intensity, length and freshness. In short, it's a complete wine. Impressive.

The 2014 Chateauneuf du Pape Trilogies checks in as 80% Grenache, 15% Syrah and 5% Mourvèdre, from a mix of terroirs (mostly rolled stones), and was raised in 75% concrete tanks and the rest in demi-muids. Forward, charming and thoroughly enjoyable, it has medium-bodied richness, ripe tannin and classic strawberry, blackberry, garrigue and spice aromas and flavor. I like it today, but it should keep through 2022.
