In the bottle with the black label, the organic Dievole 2019 Chianti Classico Gran Selezione Vigna di Sessina is a real beauty that offers a twofold delivery of elegance and power in this vintage. There are plenty of black fruit aromas that slide delicately into crushed stone, spice and grilled herb. This estate opts for fermentation in cement and quick oak aging lasting about one year. These steps insure intact primary flavors, and the wine is characterized by energy and lively aromas. Production is 9,000 bottles.

Packaged in a heavy glass bottle, the 2018 Chianti Classico Gran Selezione Vigna di Sessina (with 9,000 bottles released) reveals a streamlined personality with pinpoint aromas of wild berry, forest floor and dried blackberry. This wine is vertical, focused and even a bit nervous in personality thanks to its firm tannins and fresh acidity. There is momentary ripeness on the mid-palate, but the wine finds good balance overall.

Dievole's 2016 Chianti Classico Gran Selezione Vigna di Sessina (100% Sangiovese) is similar to the Riserva made in the same vintage, only this wine offers more dark and savory definition. It's a small margin of difference, but it is perceptible, thus adding even more fuel to the overall intensity, power and depth of this wine. The 2016 vintage is beautiful, and one of its best qualities is that every minor detail of the fruit, vineyard management and winemaking comes into enhanced focus and sharpness. It's imperative not to get anything wrong, and this wine gets it all right. This second edition of a Gran Selezione from Dievole is more profound and complete compared to last year's release. Some 9,000 bottles were produced.

This is the first release of a Gran Selezione single-vineyard wine from Dievole. The 2015 Chianti Classico Gran Selezione Vigna di Sessina (100% Sangiovese) opens to a dark and enriched appearance that mirrors the heat and sunny conditions of this fruit-forward vintage. Indeed, there is a sweet spot in this wine that is reinforced by bold cherry and blackberry aromas. This vintage is very accessible and immediate. Only 9,000 bottles were produced.

This single vineyard Chianti offers an attractive perfume of ripe berry fruit, fine medium-bodied texture, excellent ripeness, good balance, and moderately soft tannins. It possesses more depth and intensity than the single vineyard 1988 Chiantii Classico-Vigna Dieule. It should be consumed over the next 4-5 years. No known American importer.
