Packaged in its powdery blue label (a color that magically triggers a yearning for a white wine, in my opinion), the Cordero di Montezemolo 2022 Langhe Arneis is all about brightness and freshness. Seeing stainless steel only, the wine is true to the Arneis grape with a waxy texture and fragrant tones of white rose, pear, quince and papaya. There are nuances of crushed limestone as well. This is an ample 70,000-bottle production.

Cordero di Montezemolo does a terrific job with this white wine that offers so much freshness, ease and simple drinking joy. I especially recommend the 2021 Langhe Arneis now that the warm season is upon us. It releases fragrant citrus and bergamot with almond blossom and crushed stone. It has all its cards in place for a fish dinner by the sea.

A good value buy for a sunny summer lunch of fried oysters or clams, the Cordero di Montezemolo 2020 Langhe Arneis is pristine and bright, showing all the glorious intensity of this highly anticipated vintage. The wine offers so many pleasure points, with citrus and sweet melon followed by honey and yellow rose. A hint of dusty mineral or crushed limestone frames the fruit and helps put it into focus. Some 58,000 bottles were produced.

Packaged in its distinctive light blue label, the Cordero di Montezemolo 2019 Langhe Arneis is a brilliant and crystalline white wine that shines bright from the glass. This refreshing Arneis offers a terrific balance between orchard fruit and nectarine, contrasted against white mineral and wild sage. You get that distinctive richness that is offered by this grape, with extra glycerin softness, but the overall effect is fresh, crisp and bright. Well done.

Bottled in February, the 2018 Langhe Arneis suffered through a difficult growing season that saw attacks of downy mildew throughout much of spring. But July and August were ideal growing months, and the fruit had time to catch up, resulting in a normal, or classic harvest. This wine shows lots of vibrant freshness and citrus with green sage on the close. The wine represents a blend of fruit from the main estate in La Morra, Alba and Roero.
