Made with certified organic fruit, the Cordero di Montezemolo 2018 Langhe Chardonnay Elioro shows a light golden color and a lean to mid-weight approach. This wine boasts very respectable baseline measurements, with a level of intensity that never goes overboard and textural richness that never feels heavy or overdone. This northern Italian Chardonnay hits that sweet spot somewhere in between, showing energy, bright citrus and a very lively character. It calls for a heaping plate of spaghetti all'astice con pomodorini (Mediterranean lobster and cherry tomatoes).

The 2017 Langhe Chardonnay Elioro is fermented in oak, sees batonnage and then ages in oak for eight months before going into bottle for an additional eight or nine months before its commercial release. This mid-weight vintage offers rich thickness and an off-gold color with aromas of tropical and stone fruits. A drying touch of crushed mineral adds elegance and focus.

From a warm and tangy vintage, the 2015 Langhe Chardonnay Elioro offers a generous bouquet with exotic fruit, apricot and distant hints of sweet vanilla or almond. This Northern Italian Chardonnay is a wine of large aromatic intensity and medium body. It sits firmly on the palate and would pair with shellfish or white meat. Elioro ends with fragrant nuances of yellow rose and honeysuckle.

The Cordero di Montezemolo 2013 Langhe Chardonnay Elioro is a robust and oak-driven white wine with a generous and expansive personality. The wine opens to a pretty off-gold color with evident aromas of tropical fruit, apricot and toasted almond. The mouthfeel is crisp and extra creamy.

Going back in time to a vintage no longer on the market, the 2011 Langhe Chardonnay Elioro gives us a nice picture of the aging potential of this white wine from Piedmont. This hot-vintage expression shows notes of honey, dried apricot and candied tangerine skin. The 2011 vintage delivers less pulp and concentration in the mouth compared to the new 2017 release that I tasted at the same time.
