The Conte Leopardi Dittajuti 2017 Sauvignon Calcare is a simple and somewhat stripped-down expression of this fragrant grape, but it would get the job done next to a plate of simple pasta and seafood from one of the cute restaurants along the Marche's Adriatic beaches. The quality and intensity of Sauvignon Blanc's aromas are somewhat downplayed in this hot vintage, with more citrus than tropical fruits, but you gain extra texture and mouthfeel as a result. This estate pays particular attention to its Sauvignon Blanc production, recently adding additional vineyards dedicated to the grape. Some 12,000 bottles were made.

The 2007 Sauvignon Calcare is a unique expression of this variety, as classic Sauvignon aromas meld into a generous core of ripe fruit. Notes of smoke, minerals and tomato leaf gradually make an appearance as the wine opens in the glass. This is a fairly intense style of Sauvignon. Anticipated maturity: 2008-2009.
