The 2016 Sant'Antimo Rosso Giovanna Ciacci is a well-priced blend of 50% Syrah, 25% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Petit Verdot. On my technical sheet, the wine appears to carry the fantasy name Giovanna Ciacci, but the letters in script are so small and difficult to read you might understandably miss them. This informal red blend opens to an inky dark appearance with black and purple highlights. The bouquet is very intense and fragrant with blackberry, plum and exotic spice (thanks to some brief aging in barrique). The wine is soft, rich and smooth on the palate. I will happily recommend this wine if you are looking for a good value buy from Tuscany. Some 20,000 bottles were made.
