The 2005 Rosso Piceno Le Torri is a blend of 60% Montepulciano and 40% Sangiovese that spent 14 months in oak. This delicious, vibrant red is loaded with red cherries, earthiness, licorice wild herbs, minerals and tobacco all framed by firm, but silky tannins. It is a fresh, joyful wine to enjoy now and over the next two years or so. Anticipated maturity: 2008-2010 Cocci Grifoni is a great source of value-priced wines from the Marche, one of the lesser known regions in Central Italy.
