The 2011 Dolcetto di Dogliani San Luigi is fresh, floral and vinous in its aromatics, but the fruit and structure are pure Dogliani. The 2011 doesn’t quite have the finesse of the very best years, but it is still juicy, tasty and a great value. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2014. The 2008 Dolcetto di Dogliani San Luigi comes across as somewhat fleeting. Scents of flowers, minerals and dark cherries waft out of the glass, but this remains a somewhat delicate San Luigi that lacks the soft, plush fruit of the best years.
