Deep purple-black colored, the 2020 Villars offers up intense notions of fresh black plums and mulberries, plus hints of cedar chest, tobacco leaf, dusty soil and Indian spices. The medium to full-bodied palate is densely packed with ripe black fruits, supported by firm, grainy tannins and soft acidity, finishing long and spicy. At the more decadently styled end of the 2020 expressions, this is a good value find for the hedonists!

The 2019 Villars displays a deep garnet-purple color and notes of preserved plums, blueberry pie and Black Forest cake, plus suggestions of cloves, unsmoked cigars, dried mint and espresso. The medium to full-bodied palate packs-in the black fruit preserves flavors, supported by ripe, rounded tannins and just enough freshness, finishing with a minty kick.

The 2018 Villars is deep garnet-purple colored and opens with cedar-laced notes of baked plums, warm blueberries and boysenberries plus hints of truffles and damp soil. Full, rich and packed with muscular fruit, it has a firm, fine-grained frame and an earthy finish.

Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2017 Villars reveals loads of expressive black plums, black cherries and mulberries fruit on the nose with an undercurrent of fried herbs and chargrill. The medium-bodied palate is rugged and muscular with a good amount of uncomplicated fruit and a pleasant touch of chew on the finish.
