The 2007 Tradition, a blend of 55% Cabernet Sauvignon, 35% Grenache, and 10% Syrah, is a serious wine. Another custom cuvee for the American importer, it exhibits a dense purple color as well as full-bodied creme de cassis, licorice, tobacco leaf, and spice box notes, sweet tannin, fresh acids, and a terrific texture as well as length. Another project of Michel Tardieu and Philippe Cambie, the 2006 Coteaux d’Aix is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Grenache, and Syrah. A well-made bistro-styled red with very deep color, loads of fruit, pepper, earth, licorice, and spice, the wine is medium-bodied, pure, and best drunk over the next 4-5 years.
