The top-flight 1999 Cotes du Ventoux La Sereine is a large-scaled effort (15% alcohol as opposed to 14% for the other two cuvees) with an opaque purple color as well as a terrific nose of espresso-infused blackberry and cassis fruit, a layered, voluptuous texture, impressive concentration, sweet tannin, and a long (20-25 seconds) finish. It will benefit from another 1-2 years of cellaring, and should age for a decade.Importer: a Jeffrey Davies Signature Selection, West Nyack, NY; tel. (845) 353-8767
