Eighteen thousand cases of Chateau de Campuget's potentially outstanding 1998 Cuvee Prestige will come to the United States. Crafted from 50% Syrah and 50% Grenache (two-thirds aged in new oak, the balance in first year barrels) it reveals an elegant, floral, red and black fruit-scented nose. Its explosive flavor profile offers cassis, cherries, leather, and spice that regale the palate in mouth-coating ways. Oily textured, superbly ripe, this long, supple, tannin-filled wine will make for admirable drinking over the course of the next 6-7 years.
