A classic, yet straightforward effort, the 2013 Crozes Hermitage Grand Classique sports a healthy ruby/purple color as well as upfront notes of cassis, black raspberries, licorice and toasted spices. Medium-bodied, well made and nicely textured, it spent four to nine months in equal parts barrel and tank prior to being bottled unfined and unfiltered. It would be a great entry wine for those looking to understand what the appellation offers. Drink bottles over the coming 6-8 years.
