This was my favorite wine from Angelo Ferrio's Cascina Ca' Rosso. The non-filtered 2012 Roero Audinaggio shows bright fruit intensity with bold notes of cherry, wild berry, anise seed and pressed violet. The mouthfeel is silky and smooth.

The 2009 Roero Audinaggio is a pretty, attractive wine layered with perfumed red cherries, flowers, spices and mint. It shows lovely inner perfume and a deceptively medium-bodied personality with plenty of underlying structure. Round, sweet and enveloping though to the finish, the Audinaggio impresses in its total harmony and finesse. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2017. Cascina Ca’ Rossa is a bit up and down, especially with their entry-level offerings, but they don’t mess around when it comes to their Roeros. The 2008 Roero Audinaggio is flat-out delicious; in fact it is one of the finest wines I have tasted from Ca-Rossa. The bouquet alone is beautiful. Sweet roses, flowers of all types, cherries and licorice emerge from this silky, refined Nebbiolo. I find gorgeous mid-palate sweetness and depth in an elegant, refined style that could easily be mistaken for a Barbaresco from the famous Asili vineyard. This is a fabulous effort from Ca- Rossa, and hopefully a sign of even greater things to come. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2018. I was deeply impressed with these new releases from Ca- Rossa. Here is a ripe and succulent Nebbiolo that opens with black cherry, strawberry, vanilla, cinnamon and spice. This expression is a softer, very approachable Roero with enduring fruit flavors on the finish.——M.L.(9/1/2011)—— 89
