From Martinborough Vineyard's Burnt Spur Vineyard located just south of the Martinborough township, the 2010 Burnt Spur Pinot Noir has a ruby-purple color and notes of red plums, mulberries and warm raspberries over allspice and white pepper. Medium full bodied with very crisp acid, it has a low level of soft tannins and plenty of juicy berry flavors, finishing long. Drinking now, it should keep to 2015. Pale to medium ruby colored, 2009 Burnt Spur Pinot Noir gives subtle cranberry, underbrush and dried herb aromas. Crisp, medium bodied with a medium level of grainy tannins, there’s a good concentration of flavors with a medium-long, somewhat simple finish. Drink it now through 2013. This shone out in a blind horizontal of Martinborough Pinot Noirs. An absorbing, slightly animally nose with cherry, damson and loganberry, developing a savoury scent with aeration. The palate is medium-bodied, silky ripe tannins, crisp red-berried fruit. Just a lovely texture with great tension and poise. Good length. Feminine and absolutely beguiling. Outstanding. Drink now-2014. Tasted January 2008.

Vegetal hints on nose. Ditto on palate. Layered, vegetal fruit and some tannins, quite silky on edges.
