At three times the price, the 2001 Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve is not as impressive as its less expensive siblings. Made from 100% Cabernet Sauvignon and aged in French oak, it possesses too much of a minty/menthol characteristic for my taste. It offers underlying notes of black currants and an overall elegant style (were they aiming for an Australian-styled Bordeaux?), but it is simply over-whelmed by Buckeley’s less expensive offerings. It will last for 5-7 years.Importer: Peter Click, Click Imports, Seattle, WA; tel. (800) 859-0689
