The 2005 Reserva is 100% Tempranillo aged for 18 months in French oak. Purple-colored with a slightly muted nose, with coaxing, it gives up aromas of wood smoke, scorched earth, espresso, spice box, violets, and blackberry. The 2003 Secreto Reserva, 100% Tempranillo, is made in a more modern style with 12 months in new French oak followed by 12 months in seasoned French oak. Purple-colored, it has an expressive nose of cedar, spice box, mineral, black cherry and blackberry. Medium to full-bodied, the wine is firm upon entry with enough structure to evolve for several years. The fruit is slightly compressed but the flavors are good and there is solid length.
