The 2020 Vi?edos Viejos is a selection from northwest- and west-facing old vineyards on clay soils in Valtuille de Abajo. It fermented in 6,500-liter oak vats with some full clusters and uncrushed grapes and matured in 500-liter French oak barrels for 12 months. It comes from the warmer 2020 vintage when the wine reached 13.5% alcohol. It's aromatic and showy, ripe without excess, with some spicy notes from the barrel and hints of orange peel and wild herbs. It's medium-bodied with abundant, slightly dusty tannins. 15,000 bottles produced. It was bottled in May 2022.

The 2014 Vi?edos Viejos felt quite oaky, with wood-related aromas and more marked in the palate both with flavors and a textural sensation. The fruit has good ripeness without excess, and there is good balance in the palate where it showed a soft texture. 35,000 bottles were filled in January 2016.

The 2011 Vi?edos Viejos is a selection of old vine Mencía from slope vineyards on clay and quartz sand; the wine fermented with indigenous yeasts and was aged for one year in barrel. It feels ripe and quite influenced by the élevage. The palate reveals abundant tannins, a slightly dusty, rustic texture and a faint bitter finish. 15,000 bottles were filled in September 2013.

The 2010 Vi?edos Viejos is a selection of old vine Mencía from slope vineyards on clay and quartz sand aged for one year in barrel. It has a ripe, aromatic, showy nose, with the oak perfectly folded into the fruit, and a medium-bodied palate with very fine tannins and good acidity and freshness, drinkable without being light. Very pleasant, a clear step up from previous vintages. 15,000 bottles.

Black cherry and light herbal flavors mingle in this firm, tight red. Features fresh acidity and slightly gritty tannins, but the licorice and mineral notes add interest. Focused and clean. Drink now through 2018. 40 cases imported.??–TM??Region: Spain / Bierzo Select to Add
