Deep garnet purple colored, the 2009 Grenache Shiraz Mourvedre has an abundance of warm bramble fruit and spice scents with discernable notes of raspberry preserve, plum compote, cinnamon, mace and allspice. Full-bodied and generously fleshed, the palate is well supported by crisp acid and medium-firm chewy tannins. The finish is long and spicy. It makes for very good drinking now and should remain delicious through 2014. Importer: John Larchet, The Australian Premium Wine Collection; www.tapwc.com.au
