The 2008 Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve is the best of the group, the most vibrant, freshest and most lively. With a bit of a tannic bite on the finish and good acidity, it has a little intensity and a succulent, mouthwatering finish, a slight herbal note and that same elegant mid-palate. This is the winner, perhaps because it is the best vintage – but also because I do think this bottling rewards drinking on the fresher side. It will not likely stay all that long at peak, so feel free to dig in now despite that little tannic bite. It held beautifully with an hour’s air. Drink now-2017. The 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve, continuing the mini-vertical presented by the winery, is vinified in much the same manner as the ’06 reported on this issue, although of the three (’06-’08) it wound up with the highest alcohol (13%, 14% and 13.5% respectively). It seems much along the lines of the ’06, a little fresher, a little sweeter (the oak perhaps more prominent), laid back and elegant, without much concentration, but with some charm and light tannins. There is a hint of intensity on the finish. This is drinking nicely now, and although it will continue to hold, I’d consider this at peak now. Drink now-2015.
