The 2009 The Curmudgeon Showket Vineyard emerges from the glass with dark red cherries, flowers, espresso, spices and licorice. It shows gorgeous depth in a richer, fuller bodied style than most of the wines in this lineup. I especially like the weight, power and gravitas here. The blend is 67% Cabernet Franc and 33% Cabernet Sauvignon. Anticipated maturity: 2013-2020. Russell Bevan exudes energy and exuberance, both of which come through in spades in his fruit-forward, showy wines. Bevan likes to name wines after people who have been instrumental to his success. While that is certainly admirable, it isn’t always easy to following the progression of his wines for what are essentially the same cuvees with different names, depending on the year.Tel.
