The 2007 Intuition Reserve is made up of 67% Cabernet Sauvignon, 17% Petit Verdot, 8% Merlot, and 8% Cabernet Franc aged for 20 months in predominantly French oak . It is the most elegant of the Bordeaux-style wines with rich, layered flavors, good density, and power married to finesse. It has the structure to blossom for another 3-4 years and is a candidate to see its 20th birthday in peak condition. Annette Bergevin and Amber Lane continue to turn out excellent wines at very fair prices from their Walla Walla-based winery. The 2006 Intuition Reserve is 70% Cabernet Sauvignon, 18% Petit Verdot, with the balance Cabernet Franc and Merlot aged for 20 months in new, mainly French oak. A glass-coating opaque purple color, it emits a superb nose of balsam wood, spice box, tobacco, incense, black currant, and blackberry. On the palate it has layers of fruit, complex flavors, excellent balance, 5-7 years of aging potential, and a 60-second finish. Bergevin’s Bordeaux blend is almost jet black in color, thick with liquorous candied cherry and coffee scents. It’s mostly Wahluke Slope (Stone Tree vineyard) fruit, and has the power to show for it. Textured, spicy and exotically scented with red and black fruits, pepper, ground coffee, cinnamon, saffron and chocolate powder.
