There are 367 cases of the 2004 B and H Syrah Alder Springs Vineyard, a cool Mendocino site that has produced so many fine wines. A deep ruby/purple color is followed by notes of flowers, blue and black fruits, good underlying acidity, and a medium-bodied, elegant, stylish palate. It should also drink well for 5-6 years. You don't often find violet characteristics in Syrah (unless some Viognier has been added), but Behrens and Hitchcock's 2001 Syrah Alder Springs Vineyard is an exception. This wine is magnificent.
