Hints of crushed stone and garrigue accent red-skinned plums and black cherries on the nose of the tank-aged 2017 Cotes du Rhone Villages Cuvee Sabrine, a blend of 70% Grenache, 20% Syrah and 10% Mourvèdre, largely from a vineyard north of Orange. It's medium to full-bodied, with a certain power and burliness to it on the palate, concentrated, with a dusting of fine-grained tannins and hints of espresso on the finish.

Fans of traditional styling will adore the 2016 Cotes du Rhone Villages Cuvee Sabrine, which features grace notes of leather and spice layered over generous cherry fruit. It's full-bodied and supple, with the overall impression being savory and elegant rather than fruity. It can be drunk now or over the next couple of years.

A year in, year out killer wine is the 2015 C?tes du Rh?ne Villages Cuvee Sabrine (80% Grenache and 20% Syrah), which is loaded with Proven?al charm and offers lots of ripe black raspberries, spiced cherries, garrigue and leather aromas and flavors. It’s slightly more layered, concentrated and complex than the Feraud Brunel release, and has medium to full-bodied richness and sweet tannin, all suggesting it will drink nicely for 4-5 years.

A forward, delicious blend of 75% Grenache and 25% Syrah that comes from 45-year-old vines located north of the village of Orange (near Travaillon), Brunel's 2012 C?tes du Rh?ne Villages Cuvee Sabrine offers loads of peppery Provencal herbs, tobacco and earth to go with ample darker fruits. Medium-bodied, supple and easy-drinking, it's a solid value to enjoy over the coming 3-4 years.

Showing the vintage beautifully, the 2011 Cotes du Rhone Villages Cuvee Sabrine comes from vineyards located just to the north or Orange. Comprised of roughly 80% Grenache and 20% Mourvedre, it delivers gorgeous Grenache fireworks, with kirsch, ground herbs, spice-box and pepper-like aromas and flavors flowing to a medium-bodied, sweetly fruited and seamless profile on the palate. I don’t think it will make old bones, and should be consumed rather quickly, yet it is a gorgeous effort that will dish out loads of pleasure over the coming 2-4 years.
