Zinfandels are always worth a look. Their ’03 Old Vine was very good. This is better, with greater depth and complexity. It showcases classic Dry Creek terroir in the dryness, richly tannic structure, and explosively peppery, wild berry and cherry fruit flavors. ——S.H.(6/1/2006)—— 91

Compared to Alderbrook’s Old Vine Zin, this is more tannic and closed, almost brooding. It doesn’t offer the immediate blast of pleasure, but is a very fine wine, with complex berry, spice, herb, smoke and cocoa flavors. Dense and well structured, the wine serves up an elegant array of ripe plum, black cherry and blackberry flavors. Ripe, plush tannins frame the ensemble, which also features coffee, toast, cocoa, sage and spice notes. Full bodied and smooth; long on the finish.——W.E.(11/1/2003)—— 90
