The 2007 Sylvaner de Mittelbergheim represents the grape they have championed as have few other estates. That includes providing major impetus for the recognition of -grand cru- Sylvaner from Mittelbergheim's Zotzenberg. Aromas of comice pear, parsnip, and cashew introduce a softly-textured yet satisfyingly juicy, glossy-textured palate mingling melon, pear, and raw nuts, with a combination of herbal pungency and sweetness that again suggests parsnip. There is considerable nuance here, and if you play around with this wine at table, you will assuredly be more impressed than by tasting it on its own.
